even the French government has good ideas. According to Israeli sources: "Shin Bet Director David Zini met with senior French intelligence officials in Paris to discuss counterterrorism and radical Islam amid widespread riots and violent protests across France (...) Zini arrived in France on Tuesday for a working visit, during
are direct and uninhibited. Yesterday, I was standing at a traffic light across from the university in Be’er Sheva, just finishing a phone call with my wife—in German, naturally—when a young Israeli, a student who was also waiting at the light, asked me: “You speak German? Where
...American tech billionaire Jensen Huang said yesterday, referring to Germany’s technological decline. This applies to all of Western Europe—nations that were once inspiring and highly developed, but are now becoming lethargic, being hijacked by militant minorities. Their politicians are cowards. Their own youth have not learned to defend
Again, the toxic combination of leftists and militant young Muslims. A real powder keg. Europe, brace yourselves! You ushered them into your countries, you played along, you let them set the agenda, you let yourselves be infected by their hatred of Jews—and you fail to grasp that they hate
I was visited by the Berlin-based historian Götz Aly, author of the books Europe Against the Jews and How Could This Happen? He frequently visits Israel to conduct research in local archives, particularly at Yad Vashem. There, he is assisted by my friend Dr. Chaim Moykopf, a German speaker
than antisemitism in Europe. That is ultimately the Europeans' problem. What worries me is what is happening here—in the country that matters, on the front line against the Islamist onslaught. I read in the Times of Israel today that 20% of all Israelis "report severe impairment in
Palestinian worker Y.—father of two young daughters and a secret fan of Israel—is due to repair damage to our roof next week. After a rigorous security check he got a workers permit and is allowed to resume working in Israel, following a general three-year ban. Newspaper HaAretz
Every year during the High Holidays (especially during the seemingly endless rituals of Yom Kippur), I reflect on the strange contradiction between the commandment to rest on Shabbat and holidays and the effort required to observe the holidays in accordance with halakha. I recently wrote about this for a cultural
The idea of a temporary release from social constraints has existed since the dawn of human society. Masked dances, costume festivals, orgiastic processions, and similar forms of liberating ecstasy are found in almost all cultures. They represented an interruption of routine activity—of what we call "work." An
Let us pray that the bizarre incident involving Flight FZ1073 remains the only terrorist attack during the concluding Sukkot festival—the final day of which, Shemini Atzeret, coincides exactly with Shabbat, just as it did on the bloody and unforgettable October 7, 2023. Since then, antisemitism has reached new global
Below is a review of our book So It Happened... Before Everyone's Eyes about October 7th from the new issue (September/October) of the magazine CATO (Berlin), written by Prof. Armin Schwibach (Rome) Israel Defends Western Civilization The terrorist attacks by the Islamist group Hamas against the Israeli
Increasingly, agricultural technology becomes a prominent issue worlwide. With Israel leading in this field, it begins to influence our diplomatic standing. For instance in case of Morocco which has just upgraded its diplomatic relations with Israel to the level of full embassies: “Morocco’s agriculture is vulnerable to climate shocks,
Here my short statement about the elections in Berlin, capital of Germany, in English translation: Sometimes it’s nice to be far away. That is how I feel these days, after learning the election results in Berlin. The worst part is: I’m not surprised. I have visited Berlin often
I just read an article in The Jerusalem Post about the anti-Israel demonstration held yesterday in New York—organized by left-wing Jewish groups such as Rabbis for Ceasefire, Jewish Voice for Peace, Jews For Racial & Economic Justice, and "IfNotNow"—which aimed to "atone for
We have made it through Yom Kippur. At our synagogue—correct, but not overly ritualistic—the service yesterday lasted eight hours. It is a form of torture. During those hours, I askled myselfif I shouldn't just go home and attend to urgent work for the sake of Israel.
Dr. A.T., a reader of this blog, wrote regarding the frenzy of applause in Venice (and I like his observation that Israel-hatred is the new "religion" of the European left): "The cultural scene’s hatred of Israel has long since taken on the characteristics of
In the sky rumors are circulating; fighter jets are on the move again. There are early signs of a new ground offensive in Gaza, where Hamas remains in power in the as-yet unoccupied territory (within the "yellow line") and stubbornly refuses to disarm. Yet disarmament is a
Today the Jewish New Year festival Rosh Hashana starts with its evening service in synagoge and a joyous dinner and family gathering in most Israeli homes. But its also September 11th, a very sad day in Western memory. I have just republished (in the archive section of this blog) my

In our small village in the Negev Desert, September 11, 2001, was a brilliantly beautiful day. The air was clear and dry; one could see far across the landscape—all the way to Jordan and the reddish hills of biblical Moab. Since we had neither a television nor a radio
My old friend Pavel Hoffmann, a survivor of the Theresienstadt concentration camp (where he was imprisoned as a five-year-old boy), called from Berlin to discuss the triumphant election victory of the German right-wing party AfD in Saxony-Anhalt. Although he has certain reservations about the party, he

Few groups of people are as unpopular in Europe as the "Israeli settlers." This term refers to the Jewish inhabitants of the West Bank and East Jerusalem, now almost 800,000 people, living in 156 settlements (144 in the West Bank, 12 in East Jerusalem) and 196 smaller
The loser of yesterday's election in German land Saxonia-Anhalt is the so called "firewall", symbol of the insanity of German politicians of the traditional parties. Here, what I wrote about it on April 8th, 2025, in the German internet paper Achse des Guten: The policies
Yesterday, I read with some horror the Facebook comments on my article about the founding of the Arab States in last Monday's Neue Zürcher Zeitung. There were more than 600, well over half of them open hatred and curses against the State of Israel. I was called a
On Shabbat evening, we talked about our growing aversion to travel. She hasn't left Israel in over thirty years. I told her that the thought of her, always "at home," comforted me when I had to go on speaking tours in Europe, and that I had
