Increasingly, agricultural technology becomes a prominent issue worlwide. With Israel leading in this field, it begins to influence our diplomatic standing. For instance in case of Morocco which has just upgraded its diplomatic relations with Israel to the level of full embassies: “Morocco’s agriculture is vulnerable to climate shocks, while Israel has developed technologies for production under water constraints. Joint research could focus on drought-resistant agriculture, controlled-environment farming, efficient irrigation and post-harvest systems.” (Ynet)

Agrartechnologie gewinnt weltweit zunehmend an Bedeutung. Dass Israel auf diesem Gebiet weltweit führend ist, beeinflusst unseren diplomatischen Status. Ein Beispiel dafür ist Marokko, das seine diplomatischen Beziehungen zu Israel gerade auf die Ebene regulärer Botschaften aufgewertet hat: „Die marokkanische Landwirtschaft ist anfällig für klimabedingte Schocks, während Israel Technologien für die Produktion unter Bedingungen von Wasserknappheit entwickelt hat. Gemeinsame Forschungsvorhaben könnten sich auf dürreresistente Landwirtschaft, Anbau in kontrollierter Umgebung, effiziente Bewässerung sowie Systeme für die Nacherntephase konzentrieren.“ (Ynet)
