Yesterday, two more Israeli soldiers were killed. And who talks about the many who are wounded? There are a distressing number of young men with war injuries. A symbol of the damage the entire country is suffering. Is the military intervention in Lebanon necessary? Since I live in southern Israel, I'm not affected by the drone and rocket attacks in the north. The situation there is anything but "normal." Can one live peacefully in close proximity to an organization like Hezbollah? Today, a terrorist attack in the center of the country. One death has been reported so far, and several wounded. We have beautiful weather, a soft blue sky, a light breeze easing the midday heat. I don't know the answer to the question: When could this war end? All our theories have run their course. The jihadists of Muhammad are compelled by their religion to wage war against us. We underestimated this for a long time. We believed in a "swift" and "lasting" peace that could be achieved "at the negotiating table." Such a thing is not part of the mindset of Hamas and Hezbollah, as they themselves repeatedly declare publicly, for example Hamas in its charter: no negotiations with the enemy. We are "the enemy" by birth, not because of our actions. The image of the enemy is clearly defined in the Quran: we can do whatever we want, it is of no use to us, we remain—as long as we do not convert to the one true religion—infidels and therefore cursed, to be persecuted, to be killed. What choice do we have but to fight for our lives?

Als Symbol für die Schäden, die das ganze Land einstecken muss. Ist der Militäreinsatz im Libanon nötig? Da ich im Süden Israels lebe, bin ich nicht von den Drohnen- und Raketenangriffen im Norden betroffen. Die Lage dort ist alles andere als "normal". Kann man mit einer Organisation wie Hisballah in nächster Nähe friedlich zusammenleben?Heute ein Terror-Anschlag im Zentrum des Landes. Ein Toter wird bisher gemeldet und mehrere Verletzte. Wir haben herrliches Wetter, sanft blauen Himmel, ein leichter Wind lindert die mittägliche Hitze. Ich weiss keine Antwort auf die Frage: Wann könnte dieser Krieg enden? Alle unsere Theorien haben sich erschöpft. Den Glaubenskriegern Mohammeds ist durch ihre Religion geboten, gegen uns Krieg zu führen. Das haben wir lange unterschätzt. Wir haben an einen "baldigen" und "dauerhaften" Frieden geglaubt, der "am Verhandlungstisch" zu erreichen wäre. Derlei ist im Mindset von Hamas und Hisballah nicht vorgesehen, wie sie selbst immer wieder öffentlich erklären, zum Beispiel die Hamas in ihrer Charta: keine Verhandlungen mit dem Feind. Feind sind wir per Geburt. Nicht auf Grund unserer Handlungen. Das Feindbild ist im Koran klar umrissen: Da können wir tun und lassen, was wir wollen, es nützt uns nichts, wir bleiben - solange wir nicht zur einzig wahren Religion übertreten - Ungläubige und damit Verfluchte, zu Verfolgende, zu Tötende. Was bleibt uns übrig, als um unser Leben zu kämpfen?
